Matches My Entry Rug, Hate That It's "Distressed"
Before I start, I have to note that giving the rug one star seems a little harsh just for having the color appear off (which it certainly didn't seem to be in my case--what I saw in the photo here was what I saw when I got it home). Anyway. we needed a runner rug for a long front hallway where I'd put all my husband's Navy mementos and certificates on the wall; I wanted to match a similar-colored NON-distressed rug I had in the entryway (from a collection that, unfortunately, didn't include a runner). These colors were an exact match for the red/navy colors of that rug, and a close match for the medallion pattern; if it hadn't been "distressed", it would have been a perfect match. I couldn't find a matching NON-distressed runner that was affordable, so I settled for this one, and it's going to work nicely. I don't know what this current fascination among rug merchants for "distressed" rugs is, but it seems to be part of a very tiresome trend, and I can only pray the fad will pass ASAP. If I WANTED a rug that already looked 10-15 years old, I would've bought one from a yard sale and paid less. (I feel the same way about "distressed" jeans.)
