Key item features

  • Expert Gardener 3.75gal Apple Granny Smith Live Tree Plant Sun
  • This plant is considered a tree because it is a woody plant with a single main trunk that supports branches and foliage, typically growing to a significant height and living for many years.
  • Light Requirements: When growing your own vegetables, plant in full sun for best results.
  • Mature Height: 12-20 ft
  • Mature Plant Width: 30–50 ft
  • USDA Hardiness Zones: 4–8
  • Watering Requirements: Newly transplanted plants need consistent, deep watering to keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged, typically about 1–2 inches of water per week, with extra attention during the first 1–2 weeks to help roots establish. It’s best to water at the base of the plant early in the day and avoid wetting the foliage to reduce disease risk.
  • Soil Requirements: Trees and shrubs thrive in well-draining soil enriched with organic matter. For best growth, amend planting areas with compost or peat moss to improve fertility and moisture retention.
  • Where to Plant: Choose a location with appropriate sunlight for the specific plant variety, ensuring good air circulation. Most trees and shrubs perform best in areas with full sun to partial shade. Allow enough space for mature growth and avoid planting too close to buildings or other large plants.
  • Bloom Color: White
  • Bloom Season: Spring

Last one...1 tall branch almost no soil...

I wanted a granny smith apple tree and took a chance as the tree seemed healthy but had 1 tall branch and not many leaves. The potting soil was half empty as if the tree had been dropped. I am pleasantly surprised at how well the tree is doing🥰

Verified Purchase

I purchased this Granny Smith apple tree, and it was already in very poor condition. Nearly all of the branches were completely dead — when cut, the wood was brown and dry throughout. The leaves at the top were dried out and lifeless, and the only green growth was small shoots at the very base of the trunk, which indicates the upper portion of the tree had likely already died back before purchase. After doing a scratch test on the trunk, the outer bark showed some green cambium, but every branch above was dead. A healthy apple tree (Malus domestica) from a nursery should have living branches, buds, or active growth along the structure of the tree. This one arrived essentially as a bare stick with dead branches and no viable canopy. Fruit trees are supposed to establish quickly when planted, but starting with a tree that already has significant dieback makes successful growth unlikely. Based on the condition at purchase, this tree appears to have been stressed or dying before it ever left the store. I would recommend buyers carefully check branches and buds before purchasing, because this tree clearly should not have been sold in this condition.

Tree would not have been purchased by anyone "off the shelf". It was around 15ft tall with a small patch of leaves at the end. No branches.
