Comfort Zone 14" Floor Fan – 3-Speed, Tilt, All-Metal, Portable

The fan was shipped very well. There was packing paper next to a box, which had another box inside it. That box had the fan in it, and the box as it came was the same size as the outer box. It would have had to be dropped, stepped on, kicked, or similarly treated in order for the fan not to work right. I've only had the fan for several days, and here's what I like about it: 1. It's easy to move because of the built-in handle that is situated behind, and about level with, the height of the front grill. 2. You can point it to any angle you choose, and 3. It has a solid base. You'd have to accidentally kick it or trip over it to turn it over. 4. It makes a pleasant humming sound. The higher the speed, the more I like that. When I was a child, I couldn't sleep without the fan on. (For those of you who are bothered by that kind of sound, it might be a no-buy for you.) These are the things I don't like about the fan and why I don't recommend it: 1. The plug has a fuse built into it, which makes it thicker. When you unravel the cord and plug from the back of the fan, it's hard to get that plug through the covered wiring that leads from the bottom of the 3-speed enclosure to the top of the motor below. That's because the plug has the built-in fuse referred to above. I was very careful maneuvering that plug between the back grill and the covered electrical work. I was afraid I might damage some of the electrical work if I wasn't as careful as possible. 2. The fact that a fuse is built into the plug makes me question its safety, because it does have a three-pronged cord, so it's grounded. 3. The directions tell you to unplug the fan when you turn it off, and 4. The directions tell you not to worry about the fan's motor running hot, that it's normal, and to be careful not to touch it. Here's how I'll sum up the reasons I don't recommend the fan. The plug has a fuse, the motor is made to run hot, and you're supposed to unplug the fan after turning it off. This makes me a little worried that the fan might be a fire hazard. I don't want anyone's house to get burned down because of children or toddlers possibly endangering themselves or causing an accidental fire. These are the reasons I don't recommend the fan.
