Sir William Hope's New, Short and Easy Method of Fencing represents a system by which a gentleman of the early 18th century might learn to defend himself with those swords commonly available to him, such as the small-sword. This book presents for the modern reader a curriculum for studying Sir William's idiosyncratic, yet effective, system for fighting with that weapon.
