We have this seed cake on our Sheppard hook as we hang many feeders. It sits next to a similar sized cake of homemade suet. Well, I've gone through two suet and that brick sits barely pecked at looking untouched. All my usual birds flocked to my suet, while I saw only one cardinal feed and a flicker consider it. So while I don't think they actually have the ability to taste pepper, birds definitely do not love it. To make this worse, I thought I was getting a case of bricks and instead got one cake with a $15 per pound price point. I sure hope the birds will take a liking to the seed cake and that it draws more than squirrels. Very disappointed
