The Audi RS3 is a unique performer. To build a proper spare tire for this little beast, we took lots of helpful input from RS3 owners feeling frustrated with having no adequate spare tire options available.

“Run-Flat” Tires and “Sealer” kits-

Like many cars, Audi models now come equipped with either “run-flat” type tires or will have a tire “sealer” kit in place of a spare tire. Run-flat tires are blamed for rough ride quality and poor handling, quite counter to what your RS3 is designed for. More importantly, they are very expensive to replace compared to non-run flat tires. They can perform their intended function in getting you to a repair shop without air pressure, however, these tires are seldom repairable and require replacement if then driven on for any significant distance.

Tire Sealer kits can get a punctured tire re-inflated if the leak is minor. The sealer kit is of little help to a serious tire blowout. The Modern Spare solution allows you to choose more affordable and better-performing conventional tires while still enjoying peace of mind as you travel.

Our Design-

To make your Modern Spare tire and complete accessory tool kit incredibly simple to use, we designed an aluminum alloy wheel that is significantly lighter and more capable than a conventional steel counterpart. As a result, our spare wheel/tire combination is easier to handle. The low weight improves your Audi RS3 performance and fuel economy when compared to a heavier full-sized spare. Also, to maintain excellent standards of quality, our alloy wheel meets or exceeds all the latest DOT highway safety standards.

In addition, each spare wheel is equipped with a durable space-saving tire with a DOT “M” speed rating indicating the tire is tested for a constant speed of 81mph. While it is wise to limit your speed to 50mph as some tire manufacturers state, we have chosen these “M” speed-rated tires knowing the tire’s strength and capability exceed that of normal use. This ensures that the tire is durable and well-built.

This, along with having the proper overall rolling diameter for your vehicle, will allow you to travel the needed distance to a repair shop you trust with your vehicle.

Better Tools-

To be the best spare tire kit for your Audi, we considered the frustrations that come with typical spare tire tools and accessories. As an example, most scissor jacks are difficult to use and do not provide the needed leverage to easily lift your car. We solved this problem by developing a custom low-profile scissor jack with a unique ratcheting handle mechanism. This handle provides the required leverage to easily lift your car and lower it safely. We have carefully designed our jack to lift your car properly at the designated lift points.

And something worth noting, modern vehicles have very specific lift points for proper jack placement. More importantly, your vehicle requires a specific jack type to properly lift the car. In other words, the type of head on the jack is critically important for proper use, whereas a typical generic or universal jack will simply not do. We design our scissor jacks in-house and are specific to each make and model we support.
