The fourth of five children. Very young, as early as 1915 , he exploited his talent as a draftsman. He will become one of the most creative and innovative designers for the music hall of the 1920s. His works show his fascination with sequins and rhinestones, projectors and light, luxury, feathers, silks, bright colors. His costumes were able to highlight the femininity and grace of the bodies of actresses. In 1923, he embarked for a few weeks for the United States for a tour of Mistinguett named Innocent Eyes which he drew the costumes of the entire magazine. The Time of June 2, 1924 will say 'a magazine with more gold on costumes, and less fabric on girls'. The following year, he participated greatly, thanks to his drawings of costumes and sets, to the new renown of the Moulin Rouge, which reopened after 10 years of closure. It will be a succession of great successes that will give this prestigious cabaret the brilliance of its rank of the most famous cabaret of the world.
