Publishers Weekly,Though Black and Decker's new book concerns itself with home repair-not home construction-it doesn't shy away from big jobs, like redoing the insulation of an entire house. The book does teach readers how to fix hum drum problems like broken kitchen tiles, squeaky doors, and plumbing-things that can be problematicfor amateurs-but the more exciting sections explain how to reshingle a roof, rewire electricity, and install hardwood floors. (A whole chapter covers painting techniques; another deals with lighting fixtures.) Each repair is presented in a series of step-by-step color photographs and accompanied by concise instructions. There's a great need for such practical how-to books in Spanish, and readers would be hard pressed to find a more comprehensive book on the market. Recommended for public libraries and bookstores.
