OVERVIEW

The Cooper CS5 Grand Touring is a touring, all season tire manufactured for passenger vehicles and SUVs. Cooper offers an 80,000 mile treadwear warranty with this model.

The tire promotes great all weather traction. The special silica compound and asymmetric tread design work together to boost the dry, wet and winter weather road gripping ability. The compound maintains its flexibility even in colder temperatures, while the 3D micro-gauge siping detail finds firm grip even when driving on ice- and snow-covered road surfaces. The tread features four wide circumferential grooves that actively prevent hydroplaning by dispersing water and slush from below the tire's footprint. The ensured all weather traction guarantees a safer driving experience throughout the year.

The asymmetric tread design consists of three center ribs and large shoulder tread blocks that find good grip at all times. The center ribs keep the tire's road contact constantly and promote better controllability. They increase the steering responsiveness and driving stability greatly. In other words, the steering becomes faster and more precise in its responsiveness, while the structure is stabilized against the driving pressure affecting it. The shoulder tread blocks increase the number of biting edges during cornering to secure the tire's road grip and provide a safer maneuvering ability.

The special silica compound lowers the tire's overall weight, without sacrificing its all weather traction. The lower weight eases the pressure off the tire and effectively decreases the rolling resistance. The rolling resistance is the force affecting the tire that determines how much energy the vehicle needs to maintain the tire's motion. The lower rolling resistance, in turn, reduces the vehicle's fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, making the model fuel efficient and environmentally friendly at the same time.

The model's internal structure features a polyester cord casing. This casing maintains the tire's optimal shape under the driving pressure affecting it, which allows the tire to closely follow the road surface. In this manner, the tire is capable of absorbing the minimal shock of driving. The road vibrations are not felt in the vehicle's cabin while the tires are in motion, guaranteeing a comfortable driving experience.

The CS5 Grand Touring offers an extended tread life. The tread sports Cooper's Wear Square Indicators, which are small squared located on the center rib. They visually represent the tread wear rate and uniformity of the tire, allowing the driver to follow the tread wear of the tires. As a result, the tire can be replaced in time, before it wears out and becomes dangerous. The tread design also manages to evenly distribute the driving pressure along the tread area. This decreases the possibility of irregular wear formations and extends the tread life and the tire's usability.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
