Gold wears off

Straight out of the box these are very nice. The matte gold was exactly what I was looking for. The weight of the silverware is nice however, unless you intend to hand wash these for your entire life, I would steer clear. The matte gold eventually started to wear, and they turned a shiny gold then to a tarnished gold now to an almost silver. Certain sizes get used more than others so I have an array of colors at this point in my silverware drawer.
