First I want to say I love this item and is definitely worth five stars. I've read some of the other reviews and I did want to take the time to mention that the filter and water does need to be changed at least every two weeks. There were some negative reviews regarding the filter and it even had a picture but as the reviewer stated it was a month later, as in description States you must change it every two weeks otherwise it gets slimy. Which will happen in any cat water fountain. Also another person gave it a low review stating that there was a broken part on the inside bottom which I don't understand how that could be possible because the part that sticks on the inside bottom has two little suctions and it doesn't matter if anything is broken because of the suctions will hold it in place I did lose one of the suctions during cleaning it but it still functions fine. There is nothing wrong with this item. I feel the three people that gave it a one star is not deserving. The most important thing is- cleaning it every two weeks and I use only purified water as in reverse osmosis. I do not use tap water, I do not use distilled water. It does have some noise occasionally but usually the noise is letting me know that the water level is low or it needs to be cleaned it's up to the owner to keep this up.

Morris the Cat prefers water fountains instead of plain ol' water bowls. His last one died out after a couple of years, so I've been checking out the world of pet water fountains. The price was great and the reviews seemed positive overall. He watched me set it up (which was easy) and started drinking from it immediately. I use only bottled water for his sake and I think the old fountain lasted longer because of water quality.
