The investigation unravels in South East Asia and Australia, and is woven between vignettes of daily life and age-old culture. This murder takes place in the tiny, remote and, oil-rich Sultanate of Brunei, on the Island of Borneo.
Brunei, is a Muslim monarchy, one of the few left in the world today, and is strictly governed by Islamic Sharia law.
The scene of the crime is on royal property.
