Pacifica Island Art uses an environmentally-friendly Unryu Japanese rice paper made by the Awagami Factory in Tokushima, Japan. Unryu, which translates to 'cloud dragon paper' in Japanese, features long strands of kozo fiber and is made from natural mulberry and hemp fibers using traditional Japanese Washi techniques - ABOUT THE ARTIST - Eugene Oge - Eugène Ogé (1861–1936) Ogé was an important French poster artist of the Belle Époque. He started as an apprentice at the Parisian printing company of Charles Verneau where he learned to become a lithographer. During this period, he met artists such as Willette, Forain and Steinlen. During his free time, he studied at the Académie Julian. He admired Jules Chéret’s work which was revolutionizing the poster at the time. In the mid-1890s, he opened his own studio and became quite successful. He produced about a hundred posters, often caricaturing the great people of the world such as Queen Victoria and President Paul Kruger. Many companies such as Bouillon Maggi, Gellé brothers, Bicyclette La Guêpe, Quinquina Royal, Bazaar of the City Hall, Licorice Zan, Bec Auer, Tea Lombart, etc. commissioned his work because they appreciated his sense of humor.
