Acer Switch Alpha 12 SA5-271-57QF - 12" - Core i5 6200U - 8 GB RAM - 256 GB SSD - US International

I purchased this machine to replace my old heavy laptop and my tablet. As a hybrid machine I found it to be perfect to fill both roles and looked forward to reducing my overall number of electronic devices. I liked the features that the ACER offered with this machine and was impressed with it when I first started using it. Unfortunately the honeymoon did not last that long. The first indication of a problem was the blue screen of death. Multiple restarts while using the machine made it impossible to actually accomplish anything. A RAM test indicated a hardware issue and the unit was returned for repairs. Needless to say this resulted in all my personal data lost. After receiving the computer back from ACER all seemed well until I noticed the back becoming excessively hot. After periods of intense heat the computer would shut off without warning. Again it was sent back for repairs. Although I like the machine, it has once again displayed the blue screen of death and shut down. A memory test was inconclusive as it would not complete the test. Another annoying problem since I received the computer is the sudden and unexpected change from computer mode to tablet mode. Trying to change back to computer mode by screen selection does not work, requiring either going into sleep mode or pulling the keyboard off and putting it back on forcing the machine to return to computer mode. Very annoying. Over all I am disappointed as I like the machine and hate the poor reliability. My warranty runs out soon and I worry everyday when it is going to fail again.
