I used this to insulate a 1 1/2 inch pipe that runs 50 feet down the center of the basement ceiling of a ranch house. It is the return pipe for the baseboard hot water heat for most of the house. I did use foam tube insulation for the 3/4” supply lines to the baseboard radiators. I couldn't find foam tube insulation in this size in good quality, so used the fiberglass insulation on the return line. Wear gloves and a mask! But easy to install, because it can completely cover elbows and oversized unions, and insulate around the pipe hangers. I did use a roll of aluminum tape to neaten up some awkward wraps, but the install was fairly quick, and the effectiveness was impressive: the heat in the house seems more even, and the insulation effect is clear, because the basement this winter is now 5-10° F colder than before I added the insulation.

Easy Fiberglass Foil Pipe Wrapping

Easy to use pipe wrapping. It explains all supplies needed prior to installation gloves, mask, tape, scissors or razor knife. Easy to handle with gloves on. I pre-cut duct tape and used scissors to cut wrapping to place around garage pipes. Was able to wrap all exposed pipes with 1.5 rolls and had them completed in about an hour.

Use Proper handling

I use this to wrap around pipes because there wasn't a lot available when we were having our freeze in florida. but it did work i used it with the styrofoam covers for the faucets. and one I forgot to get a cover for I used it with a box and a plastic bag. and a pipe that I wrapped it around , and then wrapped a plastic bag around it. nothing froze. my sister forgot to do one of her pipes and hers busted.. So it was well worth it , but I am serious about proper gloves , because it's fiberglass and it can get in your skin and don't wear a shirt you love because you gotta wash it separate and it might not all come out
