Five Stars!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had these boots for a couple of weeks now and I've taken them out to test in various weather conditions. Today it was snowing and I went on a hike. We have had non-stop rain for days, making a perfect trial for these boots. I can tell you they are 100% waterproof. I purposely stepped in puddles and I even took the hose to them when I got back. The tongue seals itself into the shoe, which forces water out over the tongue. The shoes are extremely light and the material almost feels cheap, but I guarantee it's not. I also rolled my ankle several times on the trail today, but due to ankle height and stability I just kept right on walking with no issues whatsoever. The boots are perfectly sized, however the only suggestion I have is to order wide even if you are slightly wide-footed. The toebox isn't narrow, but hugs a little more than most of my shoes. Having said this, I am already used to it and these boots are extremely comfortable (compare to wearing a well-cushioned sneaker). There is also an pretty well defined grip on the soles and I had an easy time walking through slippery mud. I still was cautious on the ice and slipped on slightly. I wanted to write this review because I am extremely impressed by these boots. I plan on taking them to Europe and they may even be an every-day boot for walking out and about! The only negative aspect to the shoe is the laces. While they work well with the shoe, they kind of overlap themselves on the top (near the ankle), making it slightly difficult to pull them tighter one section at a time and they MUST be double knotted or they will come undone while walking. For sizing purposes, I am a female that normally wears 9.5 and I ordered a men's 8.

Nice product if maintained

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I picked these up for hiking and wet/snowy weather expected this coming winter, since I had good experiences with OutDry waterproofing in the past. These boots are quite comfortable, and are flexible enough that I didn't really experience discomfort for more than an hour or so of walking to break them in. The material and construction seem pretty durable, and the mesh fabric is dense and feels strong. The waterproofing is really good--even when submerged in puddles the material keeps water out. The one caveat is that the fabric needs to be kept clean; if it's not then the waterproofing/breathability gets a bit hampered. In that case, one can feel a *tiny* bit of moisture slowly diffusing through the material. Even if that does happen, it's not really an issue (my socks were still far dryer than non-waterproof boots or some other waterproof technologies I've tried). The only real downsides are some of the material/design choices--the laces aren't the best material and come untied easily, and the overlays on the sides make cleaning the shoe a bit more annoying.

Liking them so far

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have purchased Columbia gear in the past and always liked the products. Everything from jackets to boots and gloves and all have been long lasting, great stuff. But a recent pair of hiking boots let me down and wore out quickly leaving me a little disappointed. So, these new boots are a second chance to impress me. I am a geocacher and I hike and abuse my shoes and my feet. So far, I have hiked a couple times in these and I am loving them. The size was good, they are comfortable and keeping my feet dry. The real test will be the long run. I expect a shoe to wear out with how much I hike. But not after 6 months. So, we will revisit my thoughts after some more miles under foot!
