As is, there are 5 shelves to use. They have a groove cutout to hold items in place. It latches securely. It can be set on a shelf or hung on the wall. This is a very nice case to store medals or anything you want to keep safe and on display.

There were a few light scratches on the acrylic cover, but they're only visible in direct light and don't take away from the overall look or function. It came with everything needed to mount it—even a mini level, which made setup really easy. The case is made of pine, so it's definitely a budget-friendly build, but it still feels sturdy once it's hung up. It's lightweight enough to install solo, and the small lock keeps the door shut securely. It's not meant for serious security, but it does the job for keeping things in place and maybe keeping little kids out. I'm using it for shot glasses instead of medals, and they fit perfectly. The shelves aren't adjustable, but they are removable, so you can make some space if needed.
