Hob - From Ambient - Stove Top. 1. Slowly stir grits and salt into briskly boiling water. 2. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover. Cook 5 to 7 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Microwave - From Ambient - (1 Serving). 1. Combine water, grits and salt in 2 cup microwave-safe bowl; stir. 2. Microwave on High 3 to 4 minutes or until thickened when stirred. Tip: For thicker grits decrease water; for thinner grits increase water. Servings: 1, Grits: 1/4 cup, Water: 1 cup, Salt (optional): dash. Servings: 4, Grits: 1 cup, Water: 4 cups, Salt (optional): 1/4 tsp. Servings: 6, Grits: 1 1/2 cup, Water: 6 cups, Salt (optional): 1/2 tsp.

I LOVE GRITS! But I was taken aback when I read the ingredients on the back of two different Grits boxes sold by Walmart!!! One says it has CHICKEN BREAST MEAT a bunch of other stuff, and the other has the genuine ingredients for corn harvested Grits! WHAT'S GOING ON? Chicken Breast Meat? YUCK....

raised on cheese grits, I love them to this day. I don't eat them as much but when I get a grits craving stand by!!!! particularly on a cold, rainy day; grits with eggs and bacon sticks to your ribs. I know grits are not eaten by many northerner and I do suspect if you try them for the first time as an adult it may be an acquired texture but try it, it is so comforting!!!
