Gauge styles, sizes, and mounting locations can be a very personal thing and what one owner or builder has used may not be exactly what the next owner had in mind. Often, however, the old gauges were direct mounted into the flat fiberglass or steel dash assembly and now there are some holes that may no longer be sized for the gauges you are planning. A dash insert is a great way to cover up these old holes and securely mount your new gauges. Obviously, a dash insert can be used on a new build as well. Supports Mounting Popular Six-Gauge Instrument Packages We all know factory instruments leave a lot on the table. Most are rudimentary at best, or after decades of service may not even work properly anymore. Of course, many vehicles are saddled with the most basic “idiot light” setups too for oil pressure and even temperature! That just won’t fly for monitoring that expensive crate engine you just dropped onto the frame rails. So, when it comes time to put some quality instruments in your dash to monitor your engine’s vitals the most popular setups are the six gauge instrument kits with speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure, water temperature, fuel level, and volts. Our aluminum instrument panel features an easy to scan gauge layout with speedometer and tachometer instruments centered and flanked by two auxiliary gauges on each side. The aluminum dash panel is designed to fit popular 3-3/8-inch speedometers and tachometers, while the auxiliary gauge holes are sized for the smaller 2-1/16-inch sized gauges. Additionally, the gauge mounting panel is pre-drilled for 5/32-inch (.177-inch) LED indicators for high beam (typically blue or red) and turn signal (typically green). If you prefer a larger indicator, you can simply use a step drill bit to slightly enlarge the holes to us larger 1/4-inch LED or 5/16-inch LED indicators as desired. Our Billet Trim Ring Doubles as A Mounting Solution At just .090-inch thick (.063-inch for engine turned version), our 6-gauge insert panel can easily be mounted directly to your dash structure using the included highly polished 3/8-inch thick billet trim ring that features a routed inner lip to retain your gauge mounting panel and eight 10-32 studs with zinc plated jam nuts to secure the bezel to your dash after creating the mating instrument openings in your dash material.
