They look, feel, and react like a gelatin plate, but are made of a unique plastic that contains mineral oil. They do not contain any latex or animal products. Nice to work a little larger.

After using the smaller sizes for a while, it's nice to have a little more space to work in, so I think it's worthwhile to get a larger size plate. I got the 12x14. Overall have been very happy with the Gelli Arts plates.
