WARNING: this is a good computer with a lithium battery, so to ensure max battery life, you must RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX RUN UNIT ON BATTERY POWER ONLY!! so this with a continuously active screen display until the battery circuit monitor shows 10% remaining power. then recharge, and REPEAT THE ABOVE TWICE MORE!
reason: the lithium battery and charging sensing circuit have memory, and if you run the battery down to 10% and recharge 3 times per above when you first receive
it, then the charge circuit has a correct "sense" of low batt power. But if you fail to do this and run the unit for an hour or so, then recharge, the battery/charging circuit will assume you are recharging it cause you ran it down low, but actually you may have 50-75% batt life left, but the lithium battery/sensors see only a 'recharge" and assume that's the low end of the battery life, and next time you will get a "low battery" alert, and the battery has plenty left, but the controls wont let you use it; it will give you an artificially low "low battery" signal. get it?? trust me
on lithium batteries and this computer.
if you fail to follow the above format, instead of getting 4-5 hours, you will get 2-3 if that!
OK that's out of the way, now windows 10. I was new to this computer as well as to
windows 10 until 3 weeks ago. always used wind 7. but if you wish to personalize
the home page to make it much more friendly and useful, go to: http://www.pcmag.com/windows-10
this is a great step by step, easy to follow cause they show you actual page changes as they explain how to tweak certain 10 functions to make them more intuitive and user friendly. this is an article that was in PC Magazine and its a life saver for people like me who are not computer setup people by any stretch of the definition.
great optical remote mouse that operates like 5 feet away if needed, plus it has "off/on" switch to maximize it battery life.
nice inexpensive package. good purchase so far.
follow the discharge/recharge plan outlined above when computer is first taken out of the box, then you will get 5 hours or so of normal operating time on battery using screen brightness 50% or so, and volume at 75%.
good little package, inexpensive yet effective; remote mouse is great, I taped over the
touchpad since it gives too many false inputs when using the keypad.
would def recommend one of these to anyone looking for a good unit at reasonable cost.
windows 10 takes getting used to, andif you wish to customize or simplify its interactive screen, go to: http://www.pcmag.com/windows-10
that is a simple step process published by PC Magazine that anyone can follow and
it shows you what the screen looks like if you were to modify factory screen for personal ease of operation and to make it more user friendly. great article for lst time windows 10 user such as myself.
that's it. only had this thing 3 weeks , so i'm still learning it secrets.
