A specific amount of controlled bedding mixture is put in an exact sized container with an exact number of worms for a precise amount of time. While others simply leave an unknown number of worms in large piles or windrows, exposed to the elements for however long they can until they feel the need to harvest. These types of operations make dirt and compost that has had some worms in it, may have castings, but is not pure.
