Worked well on a 1948 Pontiac Silver Streak

I heartily recommend changing ball bearings to tapered rollers on old GM products. The speeds we drive nowadays are just harder on bearings. This kit works well to achieve this changeover. The seal rides on the inner bearing surface, so it all installs together, which is only a problem if you need to take the hub back off and the inner bearing is stuck on the hub shaft. In the past I've used kits that used modern bearings with an adapter that the seal rode on and if it stayed on, no big deal. Even now, it wasn't a huge deal, but I recommend cleaning off the back of the shaft with some emery cloth to make sure it's smooth and ready for this adapter. I will definitely use this kit again in my shop if an old car needs it. Pretty good price too, considering what it does.

I would use this again

The easiest way and cheapest way to convert from ball bearings to tapered rollers, some kits require you to change the hub which cost much more, this kit is a direct replacement easy to install,

Good product

Inner bearing slightly too tight for axel stub, a quick run with brake cyl hone and fit was perfected. Better tight than sloppy. This was on 46 chev p/u. Note: I dont see replacement seals available.
