FUNKO ROCK CANDY: 1986 BARBIE - ROCKER

Looking back at source material, this figure could have gone horribly wrong. But the Funko crew working on Rock Candy have an eye for detail without necessarily being obsessed with it. Even though the hair is big - it fills out the package relative to the other Barbie figures - it's not overblown. The color palette is really pleasing, and leaves out some features on the original doll that may have made it look too busy. The microphone here looks better than the original, and while not a removable piece, Barbie holds it as opposed to a clipping onto an open palm. A confident pose completes the sculpt. You don't have to be a Barbie fan or even a fan of the 80's to enjoy the design work that went into this, and with the current price cuts, you're getting a great deal on a cool 5" collectible that indeed, looks just as great in the box as it does out.
