These swaddle blankets have really helped my baby. Several visitors have commented that she really cries a lot and isn't so happy. Since I have been swaddling her in these blankets, she has calmed down quite a bit. At first I was hesitant to keep swaddling her up so much of the day, but it just helps her to feel secure and then she doesn't cry so much. Here is what I love about them: 1. They are sooo soft. I don't know if my baby notices or not, but I enjoy feeling them every time I pick her up! 2. They are nice and big. She will be rolling over (and we will need to stop swaddling) before she outgrows these. There's plenty of room for proper hip development (we had a miserable experience with 2 of our kids who had hip dysplasia - which we had never even heard of before! - so now we are very careful only to swaddle if there is generous space for the hips!) 3. They soothe and comfort my baby. She really cries a lot when she's awake, but calms down with a swaddle and pacifier. 4. They help her to sleep longer and not startle herself awake. We have a large and noisy brood of kids and when swaddled she can sleep right in the middle of all the noise! I wrap the swaddle a little differently than the instruction on the tag. My midwife taught me to put baby's head above the center of the square with her body on the blanket, wrap from one side, then the other, and then bring the entire bottom of the square up over her body and tie the two ends around the back (or side, so baby isn't laying on the knot). My baby is still small at 12 weeks, so I fold the blanket over a little before wrapping her.
