Options:

• Red Cover: Red cover provides a light blocker for species sensitive to light. Ants can not see Red Light, so with the Red Cover, a nice dark environment is provided for your colony.
• Substrate - An optional fine sand like substrate is added to the bottom of the formicarium. Some species prefer a sandy bottom and do not deal well with smooth surfaces, such as Pogonomyrmex. Some species also require a sandy substrate to help their larvae build cocoons. This substrate also helps improve humidity management within the formicarium.
