Sturdy heavy and great looking

This is Floating Shelf, Wall Shelf, 30 in W x 12.75 in D x 2 in H Wooden Floating Wall Shelf with Invisible Brackets for Living Room/ Bedroom/ Bathroom/ Kitchen Storage and Decor Dark Walnut (Set of 1). This is an incredibly well made, man-made wood Shelf. It is a floating shelf which actually means that you do not see any of the hardware visible that is holding it to the wall. That being said this is an incredibly heavy item and it requires a lot of hardware. I think there are 14 screws and a metal bracket that has to be securely mounted to the wall to hold the weight of the Shelf. Speaking of that installation went very smoothly but my husband is also a person who does Interiors so these kind of things are not an issue for him either way. It has comprehensive instruction so if you are not a builder it would be easy to do if you follow the instructions. Once the Shelf is up it is capable of handling a lot of weight. We personally are not using it for that we are using it for a selection of expensive stuffed animals we have and they aren't heavy LOL. But if you did decide to use this to maybe hold clothes or collectibles you could rest assure it would be able to hold the weight if properly installed. The Shelf itself looks rather nice like a dark stained wood product. I would definitely recommend this floating shelf and I will definitely be getting more of these myself as they are roomy and can hold quite a bit. Definitely recommend.

good looking and strong if installed properly

The shelf has a nice, well finished grained surface. Edges are well finished and everything is square. The wall bracket is metal and does span the entire length and the poles are deep into the width of the shelf. The bracket has many holes to ensure you can place the screws where you need them. The screws do not come with anchors because the manufacturer does not know what type of wall you have (drywall, wood studs, metal studs, concrete, chipboard...). It is your responsibility to use the appropriate anchors. As with ANY wall mounted shelf you must ensure you are anchored into a stud for maximun strength. The shelf is 30" long so you should be able to screw into at least one stud if at 16" centers or 2 studs if at 12" centers. The rest of the screws should use drywall anchors (not included) if mounting on drywall. Once the bracket is installed then you simply slide the shelf onto the two rods and tighten them down underneath with the included 2 screws. Overall a good shelf with the same mounting design you would find at IKEA or any other brand of floating shelf.
