GREAT

Was very easy to install. I liked it so much and it worked so well I am purchasing another one to use in my side yard.

Sturdy and easy to install, but hard to level

We needed to move our rain gauge from our rear deck to another location, so we got the Groundmaster 24-inch 4x4 post mount. Our ground is pretty rocky, so I thought it would take a few tries to find a location where this 24-inch long anchor would go in without problems, but it went right in with persuasion from a three-pound hammer. I was able to pound it completely into the ground on the first try, and it is quite sturdy now that it is in place. The quality of the hardware seems pretty good, too. The only problem I had is that it's nearly impossible to keep this exactly vertical as you pound it in. Mine is off by a half-inch or so over the 3-foot length of a 4x4 post. I shimmed it on one side, but that did little to help. I figured out a way to install the rain gauge level, but it would be nice if there was an adjustment to compensate a bit for off-plumb installation. Other than the leveling concern, this is a nice quality item sold at a reasonable price. The photos below show the shim on the base (on the right at the top of the mount) and the rain gauge on the post in my front yard.

Don't waste your money

I wish I could sue the maker for these abominations. I purchased 35 with which to put up a fence. Within a year, at least a third had broken the welds between the stake and the clamp. Two years later, more than half are broken, and my fence wobbles with the wind. I have to pay to re-secure every broken post. Instead of saving money and time, these pieces of cr@p have cost me dearly. Don't Buy!!
