Bought a size 7 for my thin, tall 5 year old. Fits great and is perfect for cool days. Thickness is about the same as a typical cotton t-shirt. She loves it and wears it all the time even when it's 80 degrees outside. Shes also pretty rough with it. Wears it to school, stuffs it in her backpack, etc. Great little jacket for the price! I will be buying one for my 7 year old as well.
