Great outboard autopilot!

I have this on my 25 foot Proline, I use this boat for shrimping and it has been on it almost two years. The first year I had a gear strip out and lowrance sent me a new one. Just last month I had another gear strip out so I bought another one. I have no way of know if the gears stripping out is a manufactured defect or a someone used it for a hand hold while the pilot was running issue. Either way I love the way this pilot works and it holds a course very well and goes where I tell it to even while dragging trawls. I would recommend this product highly and I will use it on future boats.

So far so good - 2601 Striper I/O

Intalled on a 2601 Striper with Volvo Penta I/O. It is advertised to work only with outboard pilot boats, I beg to differ. Cable control is cable control weather it is connected to an outboard or power assisted I/O. Installation was not too difficult though the instructions we less than adequate. As for commissioning the the system you must search YouTube for instructions. Be sure your MFD software is up to date or you will not have the necessary autopilot menus for operation. The system holds heading fairly well but the boat wanders a bit when trolling into the wind. I would recommend the system if you are wanting to add autopilot to your boat.

Worked, but not a perfect fit.

Installed it in my 1993 Seaswirl 190 SWL. While I was at it I replaced the original steering cable. While functionally the new helm worked and integrated with my Carbon 9 just fine, the length of the steering shaft was nearly 0.85" shorter than what was necessary for the called for 20 degree mounting kit. I had to use a hacksaw to cut off a huge amount the black plastic bezel so I could install the steering wheel. Aside from this pain, the rest was easy and straight forward.
