My husband installed this himself - he has some electrical experience, but more in the diesel industry and less in home electrical. Installation took about 20 minutes, and all it required was a couple of screw drivers. We do need to buy a piece to cover the electrical wires/chain, so be prepared for that. This was installed in our master bedroom. We initially wanted to install it in our living room, but found that it wasn't compatible with our ceiling fan fixture. With an app down loaded to my phone, the fixture turns my regular lightning fixture into a smart fixture. I can now turn the light on and off, change the dimness, and adjust the color (or turn off entirely) the colored led strip around the base of the fixture (the light I have as purple in my review photos). The app to control the fixture is quick to download and set up. The fixture connects to your phone through Bluetooth without having to press any buttons on the fixture itself. It then connects to your home wifi through the same app so you can control the lights even away from home. I love that this quick to install accessory turned my regular bedroom light into a smart light while saving me the cost of buying an expensive smart light. Anyone wanting the benefits of a smart fixture without the cost of buying a whole new appliance should consider this smart canopy.
