Absolutely perfect and a steal at this price

Short version: (As mentioned by the product description – product does NOT include the cabinet on the side – ONLY the desk.) I do reviews occasionally, but only on products I really like or really hate. :) I almost never take pictures - this may be my first time. But, that's how much I love this desk. You'll be hard pressed to find this desk anywhere else at a better price. You'll be hard pressed to find a desk of this durability and quality at two or three TIMES this price. I'll go into detail in the rest of the review. I looked for three primary things after narrowing my needs down: 1. I needed a desk of the right size - big, but not too big. Four feet wide, 2 feet deep (some are VERY narrow) and about 2.5 feet tall, since I wanted a comfortable height for my monitors (and I have the ability to change them, see the pictures) - but also, enough room to get my legs under a keyboard shelf, with room to spare, to occasionally, lean back in my chair (and your knees go UP when this happens...) to tuck a footstool underneath. (Never did that before in my 30 years of having a home PC…and I LOVE it now. :) ) 2. Keyboard shelf. Strong, durable, easy to slide in and out, etc. (More on this in the longer review). 3. STRONG. Hefty. Able to stand on, if I wanted to. (Not that I want to, but a quick look at my attached picture can give you an idea of why I wanted some heft to my desk.) One last thing: The gap separating the "legs" from the "tabletop" of the desk. How odd, right? Though kind of classy looking? Turns out, serves a VERY good purpose - running cables. Instead of just having a hole in the desk like many of them do (sometimes several) this allows you to tuck monitor cables out the back, but then inside the desk and out of the way. (I could do a better job of it in my own set up.) This desk (purchased sight unseen, online only) fulfilled all my wishes. If you want a durable, easy to put together, 40-50lb desk that can take a beating and look good doing it, this is the one for you! I love, love, love the thing. Longer review: (Yeah, like that wasn't long enough? ;) ) To my points above: 1. The size. I don't think I need to elaborate much more on that. You can see in my picture below that i have a lot of stuff on the desk itself. I also have it in a "not huge" room. I needed plenty of size for all the stuff I have. But, I wanted more room than I had previously. I really feel in any situation, that this desk is just about the perfect size. Granted, that's opinion, but it's large without being a monstrosity, but it's not so small that a 200+lb guy like myself doesn't feel squished. My old desk was glass, and I didn't feel comfortable mounting 3 27”+ monitors clamped to tempered glass. I've seen it done (pictures online by other folks) - but, with four kids running around the house, I just knew one of them would knock into it, and glass would go everywhere. 2. (The keyboard tray). I work from home. I also game on my computers. I have to force myself to get some exercise, else I'm at my desk like 14+ hours a day. I need a keyboard stand that can take a beating, not a decorative one that gets pulled out once a week or something. If you look closely at the pictures - you'll notice two boards holding up the horizontal shelf that the keyboard sits on. Note - BOARDS. Not four metal suspension hooks or whatever suffices for most computer desks - but actual wooden boards, holding rails that hook to another wooden board with rails. The boards on the side are a half inch thick and 3.5 inches tall. This also gives you an idea of how much room you have when it's slid under the desk - in two words: not much. If you have the wish to use this tray while still under the desk, you're going to need very small hands and a nearly flat keyboard. There's just shy of 2.25 inches of clearance between the shelf and the desk. I've put considerable pressure on the shelf - as much as 20lbs or so, just to see what it could take, and it didn't budge. I'm REALLY happy with this. I've had other wooden desks last a long time - 7 or 8 years even, but the rails for the keyboard shelf always need a lot of work, and I've had a four foot wide keyboard shelf hit the floor multiple times and need a lot of jerry-rigging to keep it functional at all. In any case, I wanted a very generous/wide shelf. If you look at my pictures, there's a healthy amount of room on either side of my keyboard, which allows for some movement/change of placement. This is KEY as well. I started getting back pain/sciatica in my old chair/desk/keyboard set up which is what drove me to get the new set up. I realized that I needed to position my keyboard directly in the center of where my monitor was, so that I wasn't turning my head or torso at weird angles for hours at a time without even realizing it. I now line my keyboard so that the gap between my two thumbs on the space bar line up dead center of my middle monitor. 3. By looking at the desk up close, you can see that the desk is very solidly built - these are "no-joke" pieces of (particle board composed) wood. They've got a great finish and the coasters on the bottom make it a breeze to slide (w/out scratching) across hardwood. You can run cables (electric, network, monitor, etc) under the desk (if it were flush, you'd be running them around the entire side). Also true at the top of the table, as mentioned above with the gaps between the table top and the sides. If you look at the picture I've attached, you can see I make great use of the desk space. I used to have a glass L-shaped desk, where the monitors were directly on the desk, and the keyboard tray had fallen off (!!!!!) so I had to put my keyboards right on the desk surface as well. No good. Huge waste of space. Other features: The "back" of the desk. They leave a generous amount of room between the back that connects the two sides, and the desk surface. The "back" - is very important in setting up the desk and it's construction/design since it lends a lot of support and stability to the entire thing. (If someone has a mind to leave it off, for some reason, DON'T.) What's interesting about it, is that I stretch out my legs, and forget the back is there. As you can just tell by the pictures, I can squeeze a footstool under my desk (for the first time EVER) and it's crazy comfortable. Plus, for ladies, the back of the desk will help protect your modesty. Finally, I'll just cover what I managed to squeeze onto my desk. I also realize that I have so much there, it makes the desk look SMALL - so I took a picture with a measuring tape, so you can get an idea of just how big this thing is. I have a laptop on the desk, with a wireless keyboard. That way, when I'm not working, I can pick up the mouse and keyboard and stow them away (which I do every day). Frees up space. The other keyboard on my desktop is a mechanical waterproof. Since it doesn't have the number pad or the arrow keys, etc, it's only a foot wide, and five inches deep. I have a Mac Mini tucked into the corner of my desk, a gigabit switch on top of it, and you can see the two Corsair mice. On the shelf, I have a full-sized Corsair keyboard, with plenty of room to spare, so I can move it left or right enough to feel comfortable whether I'm doing research on my right computer monitor, or my day job/work on my left. On the right just above my PCs, I have a few headsets, and I use a similar mount on the outside of my desk to hold a third. (One for each computer, of course! ;) ) The mounts cost like $6 and I use "3M Command Strips" to hang them. Be sure to use two! Don't want headsets falling on the floor. The white mount above the headsets is to hold a magnifying lamp, that I use once in a while; easy to re-attach when needed. Finally, I have two 28" monitors (right and left) and a 27" monitor in the middle, mounted on a VESA Mount. They can be adjusted however I want, but I chose to have them at a height that generally puts my eyes straight ahead to the center of the monitor. Hope this review helps, hope it was informative and not too much of an eyebleeder. If walmart allows for the asking of questions, I'll be happy to answer any. :)

It was actually what I was looking for. A lot of space on top keyboard space is a plus. Had trouble putting it together by myself, but I love a challenge

I just finished building

I just finished building and setting up my new desk. This was just what I was looking for and it came out wonderfully. I know some previous reviews stated that it was hard to assemble, but I didn't have a problem. The parts were labeled and packaged better than any other piece of furniture I have ever assembled. Most big pieces are labeled with a sticker but many of the smaller pieces are marked on the side in black. Two pieces in my set were not labeled but it was obvious what pieces they were since everything else was accounted for. The best part was the hardware. It was all packaged in a big blister pack with each thing sectioned off and labeled. When you needed screw 12, you just opened the blister pack with the screws labeled 12.... GREAT!!! I've built a few things in the past where there was one sheet of instructions and none of the screws were labeled so you had to guess which were the right ones.... so aggravating. I had no problem finding any of the parts I needed. I would recommend having a helper handy for assembly. One part specifies in particular that you will need a second person. My husband and I finished building the desk in about 4 hours. We used a power drill for most of it, which was really helpful. I try to use power tools whenever possible ;-) I did have a small issue with the pencil drawer not lining up perfectly. It was an easy fix though. I just removed the first two screws on one side of the cabinet member - 22B (this will make more sense after you read the instructions) and adjusted the position a little... then drilled the screws into their new position. The fix only took five minutes at most. The overall outcome is great. The instructions are detailed but not overbearing and everything is organized beautifully. I recommend this desk 100%.
