I was shopping online for a black bench when I came across this one. I liked the looks of it,read the reviews and decided to purchase it. Got it delivered to my home and early I might add. Started to put it together and boy let me tell you what a NIGHTMARE it was to put together!!! Whoever made this bench should be fired for poor workmanship. Now I built my share of furniture in the box over the years,so I know what I'm doing, but this was one of the worst encounters that I've every had with building a piece of furniture. One arm went in fine but the other arm the screw for it would not stay in and the spindles on the arm would stay in the holes. If I got lucky and the screw would stay in the arm, the spindles would pop out of the holes. I fought it the whole time. There were no pre drilled holes for the screws for the arms underneath the base. I had to drill them in myself. Those wood screws would not go in all the way. Two are sticking out a bit. Thank God no one will see underneath this bench. Then using the screws provided for the cross bars,which in my opinion is nothing but thin painted dowels started to crack as soon as I started to screw them into the wood. So I ended using smaller screws that I had around the house. The sticker underneath the bench says weight limit is 550 lbs. HOW IS THAT? I am a 5 foot,140 pound woman and let me tell you once this was all put together, I did try sitting on the bench and nothing happened. But I am still leary about anyone sitting on it for fear it would break. It will have to be a bench for show only. The bench overall has a black shiny sheen to it. I put two throw pillows on it to see what it looks like and the pillows kept sliding down and would not stay in place. I will have to figure something out to keep them from sliding. For now I will have to keep this bench but one day will buy a strong,sturdy REAL WOOD bench. I'm just mad at the money and time I spent on this bench. The cheap comes out expensive!
