Unravel - Xbox One [Digital]

I love side-scrolling games, and was so looking forward to this release! The puzzle storyline, artwork, and music are all breathtaking. Unfortunately, I found the main skill of the Yarny character to be somewhat aggravating in terms of gameplay (Xbox One controller): lots of repetitive throwing rope, tying rope, climbing up or down rope, swinging from rope, pulling with rope. I played about 3/4 through, then let my kid finish while I watched---much more enjoyable! Still, the wonderful things in this game outweigh the annoying elements. I love the clever idea that Yarny is unspooling as he travels, with a need to replenish his yarn at designated stations. Game achievements fill the pages of a beautiful photo album in the home of Yarny's "maker." The artwork is amazingly realistic, the music relaxing yet haunting. Yarny is a precocious character who reacts to his environment in unexpected ways---if he could swim, he'd be perfect! Go to the Internet to see the game designers show you instructions on how to make Yarny---my first attempt came out pretty good!
