In a gritty small town during the 1980s deep recession lives 15-year-old Alice and her mother Diane, a larger-than-life former actress whose fame has passed her by. Although beaming with charisma, Diane has been caught in a vicious cycle of depression clinging to her daughter and their fantasy of a better life.
