I purchased this detector right before an eight hour drive to Tenn. I have another detector but it throws a lot of false alarms. The Escort didn't give any false alarms; when it went off I was able to determine the source. The ac plug has a button on it to silent alarms without having to touch the detector. The highway was crawling with police and the Escort nevered lost a beat. The price is great as well, and you will get a nice hard plastic case.
