I got this ring about two months ago as a replacement for my marquise diamond engagement ring. The marquise is too pointy and catches on everything. I've torn pantyhose,rubber gloves, etc, while wearing it. I finally stopped wearing it after scratching my daughter with it when she was a baby. My husband wanted to sell the marquise and get a replacement diamond but after pricing diamonds, we decided to keep the marquise and have a necklace made out of it. It also has sentimental value as he gave it to me 25 years ago when he proposed, I didn't want to sell it. So we decided to buy a colored gemstone instead as they are cheaper but many are close to the diamond in durability. When I found this round white topaz set in gold, I fell in love. And it was on sale, which made it even better. I love the size as it is substantial but not too big, I wear it everyday and it never gets in the way. The setting is very sturdy and the stone is clear and breathtaking. The topaz is only second to the diamond in hardness and durability. In the sunlight it has a pale silvery-bluish tint to it, really beautiful and unique. My daughter says it's prettier than a diamond and I completely agree. My husband and I are very happy with this ring, it is a tasteful,fitting replacement for my diamond.
