There was a lot I liked about this novel. I like language, strong descriptive language, and the story flowed (for me) effortlessly and pulled me along at a clip. The lack of punctuation I could see could be a problem for some. I mean, it all really depends on one's experience of novels. If you like James Joyce, you will have no problem getting into Mr. Don's world. He creates a chaotic landscape which is the troubled mind of a disturbed youth. The violence, which is mostly in the first part of the story, is actually very funny and madcap. Soon, the novel takes a more serious turn and the tone becomes less frenetic. In terms of the message behind the novel, I would say that it is something along the lines of A Clockwork Orange. To anyone who wants to read all things must pass, just dive in and go with the flow. You'll be rewarded with a funny and poignant story of a young man coming to terms with himself and his place in the world.
