Extremely Impressed!

I am about to go onto my third season with the 7Ti. I cannot put into words how happy I am with this product. I works almost perfect right out of the box, and with just a little tweaking it is a Walleye killer. It has literally changed my fishing habits. I trust the machine 100%, so much so that I wont even drop a line unless the sonar tells me what I want to see. Of all the new tech out there, the only thing I actually want is the Point-1 GPS add on. This would allow me to fine tune my skills that much more. I have even learnt how to make my own maps using satellite images, and have done a lot of bottom mapping of some local lakes, and created bathometric maps. Now we have this new software update.. Seriously, I have a two year old sonar, and Lowrance is still sending me useful updates all this time later. In this years update, we even have a new game changing feature, all for FREE! I have already converted two friends to the Elite from that bird company, and I'm sure I will sway a few more over the coming years. This is simply an awesome sonar!

Lowrance -Elite 7 GPS/Chart Plotter

I purchased this unit about 2 years ago. I have owned 11 other GPS and GPS/Chart plotter combo units over the last few years and this is my first Lowrance. (Note of reference, I have a background in cartography and aerial photograph interpretation.) Pros: This unit does work as advertised. It will accept the Standard Mapping Satellite Photo E-Card which, for my use, the photograph is a better option than topographic or marine maps along the Gulf Coast. It is very easy to operate and above all the screen can be viewed in direct sunlight. Cons: This unit as all the other units I have used will, occasionally, loose satellite reception for about 30 seconds and will recover on its own. This loss of satellite is usually not a problem for me when boating. Conclusion: Yes, I would purchase this unit again. Compared to other similar size units, don't let the lower price fool you, it is a quality product.

miracle at sea

I have used this unit for a year and added a navionics map cartridge to it. The detail was awesome and opened up many new areas in the Sekieu/Neah Bay area of Washington state to very productive fishing. I lost it when my boat was capsized off the coast and we hung on to the bottom of the boat for over 50 minutes before we were rescued. The boat washed up on the beach and the salvage crew rescued my elite unit so no one would steal it. When I opened the SD slot, it was dry and the chip was intact. It was splash proof even though the main unit became compromised by the salt water after the extensive submersion.
