G1W High Definition Digital Camcorder

There are plenty of video reviews to show the video quality on youtube for G1W dash cams. I have a capacitor model (G1W-c) which I believe this one is too despite not specifically saying so (it does say does not contain battery) This is the model you want if you live in a hot climate like TX as batteries can succumb to heat which the camera will endure being on the windscreen. The downside of this is that you cannot take it out of the vehicle to film unless you a portable power source. Battery models are fine in colder climates, but avoid at all costs if you live anywhere hot. The picture video is the same regardless. G1W dash cams always make top 5 or ten lists for best bang for the buck and match and even outperform many high end cameras and I'm surprised it took Walmart so long to stock them. The Walmart price ($81 as I write) is higher than you can find for the same camera elsewhere, but buying here does hopefully eliminate the risk of buying a fake (there are many on the market out there) It says it has night vision, but in reality it doesn't. It has an LED which will light up about 10 feet in pitch black, but if it's on the inside of your windscreen all it will do is reflect back from the glass, I recommend turning this off. What it does have is remarkably good nighttime exposure that mostly can only be matched by high priced cameras. You'll need to buy a good quality micro sd card (I use a 32 gb class-10) and make sure you format it in the camera. It works by recording in a constant loop broken up into sections of up to 5 mins.. When the card is full it will overwrite the oldest section. There is no gap in recording between sections. It will record sound unless you turn that option off. There are plenty of options in the settings to play with so you set up how you like it. I use it purely as a dash camera and it does that job very well. Good quality video in light and dark.
