This was an amazing buy. It was an $80 shelf for $28 and i was very happily surprised it exceeded my expectations as to the quality and how really nice it is. Not a bad size at all. As you can see it doesn't take up a lot of space and i love the color of the wood. i'm a senior who does a lot of needlepoint and when i moved a few yrs ago from a house to an apartment i had the Mainstay big shelves I was using for my pattern books and dvds. It was perfect in size but my daughter was still at home and we had all our dvds together on the bookshelf with my pattern books. When she got married i moved out of my house to downsize to an apartment. i would've taken the bookshelf as they held up pretty good except for the shelves dropping a little in the middle. We had the bookshelf in the basement in the my area so it wasn't a huge deal that the shelf dropped a little but in my apartment the shelf would probably be in the bedroom or living room and noticeable. The mainstay shelf was probably a little more than this shelf but a lot simpler and plain looking. This is really really nice with the off while shelves and light oak sides. My son in law put it together and it is very sturdy and has a very sturdy anchoring to the wall. He and my daughter have the mainstay shelves in their game room and look very nice and organized in that room. They have their dvds and Star Wars collectibles and others on the shelves. But he said they paid more for their shelves than i did for this one and this is excellent quality and anchoring. i have my bookshelf in the bedroom. im in a 1 bedroom apartment with nice size rooms. But i have a desk and secretary in the living room besides the usual furniture and i felt a bookshelf would look nice in the bedroom. I have a huge bedroom so it fits very nicely in the room. Its so convenient having my books in the bedroom. i very often look at them while relaxing there. My room is set up with a nice chair by my window to look at books or magazines. When i first moved in I put my books on the shelf in my big walk in closet but i'm not tall at all and i have a dominant shoulder replacement. So it was difficult to reach my books. What i also like about this shelf is the height. it's 4 shelves high and just right for me - i'm not reaching or stretching high whereas a 5 shelf high bookshelf i would be. Definitely a 10 rating fir me. I have a huge bedroom closet also currently with my dvds on the top shelf. They too are too high so planning to order another shelf. Unfortunately they don't have this shelf anymore but they do have others similar often with an excellent sale price. This was the best sake though i've seen but they do have other shelves on good sales so i'm watching a little bit for what i see and like to buy to do the same with my dvds.
