Boye Crochet Tool 4-in-1 DFHJ

Handy for emergent crochet needs I bought this recently and have tried it out. It is handy to have 4 hooks in one compact package. However it forces me to crochet with an over-hand grip I would normally never use. While this is OK in a pinch for, say, crocheting a hat to stay sane as a passenger on a road, train, bus, or plane trip, I would not want to crochet a large, heavy project such as an afghan with it. It bothers my wrist to hold a hook in that over-hand manner for any great length of time. In short: handy for quick needs & portability but unfeasible for long, large projects. Your mileage may vary. I read others' reviews and note criticism about "hook flopping". I did not encounter that with mine. That would make me batty, so I am grateful to the reviewers who have made me realize this is a possibility in the future. Note well: If you start a project with this, and you are using the tool in a grip you don't normally use, then this will seriously affect your gauge. It is advisable to finish the entire project with the same hook. However, if you decide to switch to a traditional hook mid-project, you will need to carefully watch gauge. MARK THE LAST STITCH MADE WITH THE 4-IN-1 HOOK. In my case the 4-in-1 caused me to stitch very tightly. When I got the chance to switch to my regular hooks, I had to go down three hook sizes to get gauge again.
