Jes is a singer, songwriter, rhythm guitarist extraordinaire, that has worked as a professional musician in Los Angeles, California for many years. Jes hails from Shelbyville, Indiana where he got his first guitar at the age of 12 from his Grand Daddy, Major T. Jester, (his namesake, I might add!). From that day he cloistered himself with James Taylor, Kenny Loggins, Cat Stevens, Crosby Stills & Nash records and his first Yairi Alvarez. Jes learned his own style of guitar playing, hoping that what came 'naturally' might be worth something someday. After graduating high school Jes took off for parts unknown, eventually finding himself as a solo opening act in Denver and surrounding ski resorts from 1975-'79. He pushed on across the country and ended up performing at quot;The Great American Food & Beverage Co.quot; from 1980-'83 having fun performing in the Bohemian environment with the likes of Peter Tork of The Monkees, Eric Lowen of Lowen & Navarro, and Vonda Shepherd of Ally McBeal fame. From 1984 through 1990 Jes became guitarist and bandleader for his casual band Topaz. During this stint, Jes was called on by many to do guitar work and vocals. He worked for Curb recording artist, Jann Browne touring and opening for The Desert Rose Band, Emmylou Harris, and Willie Nelson. In 1990 he was invited to be the premier act at a private club opening in Osaka, Japan. So, he loaded up the band and off they went. It was a 6-week gig that ended up being 2 years! Jes soon decided to make his way back across America to his native Indiana. He took a year to seek out the best players Indy had to offer, and began the Jes Richmond Band. He also traveled to Chicago quite often to do studio work for BMG Holland recording artist Faith Pillow with jazz bassist Billy Dickens. They had such sweet chemistry together, they soon started co-writing material. Recording artist Sam Bush, formerly of New Grass Revival fame recently released one of these co-writes entitled quot;Face Tomorrowquot; on Sugar Hill Records. Jes built his dream house and released his debut CD all by 1997. Jes loved life in Indiana, but lo' and behold, there's not many recording companies in that part of the world. Realizing it was time to get back to L.A., he packed it up and here he is! Upon Jes' return it didn't take long before he was signed to co-write a project for Sonoton Records out of Germany.
