Olde-Worlde European 4-Drawer Credenza

Delivery was scheduled for 3-4 weeks, but it arrived in 13 days and in good condition. It is the statement piece I wanted, and the focal point of the room. However, several surprises accompanied this chest. First, the color does not match the photo on Walmart's or anyone else's website. My chest is a very dark brown, with pumpkin- and teal-colored designs. In addition, there is a green-colored hue to the entire piece. I had expected this piece to blend with walnut-colored pieces, but it is a better match with mahogany. Another surprise is that the top is not solid wood but is a continuation of the leather-like material covering the doors and drawers. I can live with this feature, but I wonder whether heavy statues or vases will leave a permanent imprint. The odor mentioned in other comments is present, but minimal, and dissipated in a few days. An added feature is that the design wraps around the door and drawer edges. This is visible in the photo, but I had not noticed it. This feature adds to the appearance of quality craftsmanship. I gave this piece four stars for the poor description and photo of the color. The unexpected dark brown has forced me to revise the room color scheme in drapes, throw rugs, and probably wall paint. I am not happy about this task. You may find it helpful to know that hunter green and burgundy appear to work well with this chest. Teal would definitely work but is not an option for me.
