My deck has walls on both sides but the front is open and I get pounded by the sun in late afternoon until the sun goes down. These are canvas unlined lightweight drapes that are great for privacy and helpful with blocking the sun. I still have light that comes through, they are a little sheer. They are not black out curtains, they do not block the sun. Great for outdoor privacy.
