Bolt Type Anchor Shackle is made in durable Type 316 stainless steel. This stainless steel anchor shackle has a rounded “O” shape look, which allows this type of shackle to take a load from many directions without developing significant side load. Bolt type shackles are a great choice to use for permanent or long-term applications, or if there’s a risk of a load sliding on the shackle pin, causing it to rotate. The bolt pin in the bolt type shackles allows it to be secured better due to the nut that is screwed on the other end. This heavy duty shackle is tough and durable which makes it a great accessory to use with nylon and polyester slings, and with tow and recovery straps. They are great for protecting lifting slings from damage due to cutting or abrasion. When attaching a single sling or multiple slings to the shackle, connect them to the body, and not the pin to avoid damage. The stainless steel shackle is made for durability as it contains Type 316, which is the most common type of stainless steel used in nautical applications, damp environments, or high chloride marine applications. The Type 316 grade contains molybdenum, which is used to prevent corrosive effects of salt water. It’s important to know that the larger loop shape of an anchor shackle does reduce its overall strength, but it is also able to handle a larger strap. The anchor shackle can be side loaded. Be sure to check the working load limit (WLL) of the shackle to ensure it will work for your intended use. The WLL is embossed on each shackle. Always ensure the pins are straight and properly engaged. Shackles should be inspected before each use. If you see bending on the body or pin, remove the shackle from use and dispose of it. As with all equipment with stated load limits, these strength limits are based on proper use. Improper use will decrease strength and may cause the shackle to fail.
