After being discontinued for years, the beloved Moreton Hybrid Tomato is back—thanks to a cooperative effort between Rutgers University and Harris Seeds. Originally prized for its exceptional flavor, this classic hybrid is once again available for gardeners and growers who value taste above all.
This tomato produces large, meaty, and richly flavored fruit that matures early and features a beautiful oblate shape and deep red color. Though not firm, it remains a favorite among tomato connoisseurs. The indeterminate vines perform best when staked or trellised and yield a long, productive harvest. The variety is also resistant to Verticillium, promoting healthier plants throughout the growing season.

It's a great tomato
The Moreton tomato is the main one I grow every year. There are a couple of other varieties but the Moreton is the one my family eats from July through October. The germination rate is close to 100% and it produces delicious fruit, in large quantity all summer. I grow six plants for myself and 15 to 20 plants for neighbors and friends. What we don't consume ourselves, goes to the local food bank. The Moreton is a staple, an outstanding tomato.
