This new addition to our home has completely changed my mind on voice controlled technology! first decision was where to have this unit, it was originally in the living room, but it actually works better for us in the kitchen and here's why. Out home is a reverse layout, meaning the kitchen is the first room you enter after the hallway. Once home I simply say "Hay Google I'm home" and I have a series of commands that are then performed, if I walk through into the living area, I simply ask google "Hay google, cast to living room TV" and it jumps room I have managed to connect a series of smaller google home mini speakers in the upstairs rooms, and also smart sockets, so I ask google to turn on or off lights or chargers, for example I go to bed knowing my phone charger will turn off at 3am meaning I'm not wasting electric charging a fully charged phone (this is also better for the battery) this is directly link to another command, I say "ok google Goodnight" and this turns out lights downstairs and puts the charging socket on until 3am I wake up say "hay google good morning" and my route to work is displayed with any delays, then a series of news is read out (Sky news isn't working yet, but this tech is still young) Another feature that I like is I can ask for directions to a place while I'm putting my coat and shoes on, the directions are then sent to my android phone and navigation starts, so as soon as I enter my car the Bluetooth connects and the satnav updates with the instructions (love this feature) The sound quality is above what you would expect from such a small unit, loads of deep bass!! As I've said I'm now a total convert on this tech and will be adding a video doorbell, other speakers and control devices for items around the home, I've even converted my 70+ year old parents, they have joined the speak tech revolution (even if 90% of the time it's just to get radio) When following a recipe online, one feature you're supposed to be able to do doesn't work, you're supposed to say "next step" but it doesn't you have to manually tap the screen a little annoying if your covered in flour, but it cleans down easy enough, I'm sure this will improve as I've already said this is in its infancy stage, I'm sure loads more features will come as this tech evolves, for example, it can see my robot Vac on the same wi-fi network, but it can't set him off cleaning (or at least I haven't been able to get it do so) The number of languages is limited, my partner is Brazilian and it doesn't understand any Portuguese, so when asking for a "feijoada recipe" you have to ask for "Brazilian Stew recipes" and select the right one, again I'm sure language packs will be added, this is google they have unlimited access to language around the world
