Myler MB 04 3-Ring Combination Bit - Sweet Iron Low Port Comfort Snaffle & Copper Inlay

Key item features

  • 5-Point Pressure Dispersion: Synchronizes pressure across the nose, poll, chin, bars, and tongue, allowing the horse to respond to subtle cues before the mouthpiece fully engages.
  • Level 2 MB 04 Mouthpiece: Features a 1/4-inch low port that provides essential tongue relief and follows the natural conformation of the mouth to prevent pinching or interference with the palate.
  • Independent Side Movement (ISM): Enables the rider to isolate one side of the bit, making it easier to lift a shoulder, bend, or balance with pinpoint accuracy.
  • Sweet Iron & Copper Inlay: The polished sweet iron naturally oxidizes to create a sweet taste, which, combined with strategically placed copper inlays, promotes a soft, moist mouth and better bit acceptance.
  • Versatile 3-Ring Design: Offers multiple rein attachment options to customize leverage and control, making it a top choice for jumping, cross country, and western speed events like barrel racing.

Training bit

I was having problems with my 10 yr old draft cross throwing his head and yanking the reins- we had tried side reins and nothing was working. My trainer suggested that we needed to try a bit with tongue relief. We looked at the Mylers and settled on the combo bit because it said that it worked well for young horses and retraining older horses. The first time I rode in the bit- the difference was immeadiate! The dispersal of pressure through bit, chin, nose, poll and the tongue relief - did the trick. Our rides are 100% better. I am amazed that this bit has worked so well. I did remove the cavesson on his bridle to make the bit easier to use and less bulky. The only detractor is that the chin strap is a vinyl/plastic. I would rather have leather, but it works. Overall, I am happy with the performance of this bit.

A Great Transition Bit

I have been researching Myler Bits and decided on the 04. I was interested in the 3 Ring Combo but reluctant due to the cost. It has been worth every penny and wish I had bought this bit sooner. I initially bought the 5inch mouth but upon fitting on my AQHA mare was concerned of pinching at the lips. SmartPak has amazing customer service and had the bit exchanged in a jiffy. The 51/2 inch fits wonderfully. When I initially bridled my mare she was very tight and worried. Within in a few minutes I had the adjustments made she had completely relaxed and seems comfortable and happy. I had been riding her in a egg butt snaffle w/ copper inlay and had been unhappy with how she was going, she was stiff and did not want to bend. I backed her into a soft rope hackamore to get her bending and was ready to move up. The 3 Ring Combo Bit has been the perfect transition from the rope hackamore to moving into a bit. My mare is starting to understand bending and bit pressure and is staying relaxed and confident. A side note: The 51/2 inch mouth has a larger nose rope and I had to add holes to the biothane curb. A leather hole punch and a hot nail got the job done.

This bit is a Godsend!

Owning an extremely difficult to ride thoroughbred mare, with TMJ issues, has been interesting to say the least. After many trial and error combinations this bit has worked the best! The distribution of the pressure is a Godsend-- and we can still adjust to add either more or less pressure on the nose and poll instead of her mouth. 2 months ago bits had her rearing and flipping over, now she is stretching and reaching for the bit! Thank you Myler!
