Whirlpool Stainless Steel Bottom-Load Water Dispenser with Self Clean and 5-LED Function Indicator

At first I wasn't sure if I made the right decision about my purchase because of the plastic taste. After we ran a 5 gallon bottle of water through it the taste cleared up. Not as cold as my old Oasis but its very close. It is cold enough to where it will hurt your throat if you drink it fast and the hot is hot enough to where it steams. Have not verified any temps. I really like the clean look of the bottom load vs. top load and the stainless/black look matches the rest of the kitchen. As I said, we have only run one 5 gallon jug through the unit but now the water taste almost sweet. I compare the taste to water sitting in a cup of ice for a few minutes with some of the ice melting and blending with the water giving it the almost sweet taste. The ice I speak of is not your normal filtered ice from a refrigerator/freezer dispenser, is from a gourmet ice machine which has a cold plate freezing pure water and cutting through a warmed wire grid. (The best for drinks of any kind with the ice being crystal clear). I am now extremely pleased with the purchase, love the ice ring technology, how fast it fills a cup, the led notification lights on the front of the unit and the ease of replacing the water bottles. I find the noise level is comparable to my old Oasis even with the noise dampening pad supplied with the unit. Also, seems to run just about as much, too. Hope the new style compressor uses less energy. Have not used the hot water for anything so far as the temps around New Orleans is currently around 95 degrees mid-day. We will have to see if it hold up as my old unit lasted 15 years. Have not had it long enough to comment on the cleaning feature. I would recommend this unit to anyone.
